30 Sep 2008 - FROGS UNDER ATTACK

FROGS has become aware of a letter campaign regarding a supposed FROGS proposal for the old Rail Freight line in Rozelle. Contrary to the letter FROGS does not support the proposal to use the Rail Freight line in Rozelle for a roadway. FROGS has openly discussed the need for a LRT extension - notably at the Inner West Forum at Tigers Leagues Club and in the SITS 2 discussion paper.

The article appearing in the VILLAGE VOICE 07 Aug 08 @ 02:17pm by Hannah Parkes tries to balance the mistaken views of Leah Mason of Ecotransit and Cr Rochelle Porteus that FROGS supports roads in preference to Public Transport . FROGS has supported far more Public Transport proposals than Road proposals and constantly lobbies the RTA for improved road outcomes. The implication that FROGS is a front for "big business" is not based on fact.

Through 10,000 Friends of Greater Sydney's activities with newspaper, radio and TV, the NSW Government has now achnowledged that the toll system in Sydney is unfair and has announced a review to make it fairer. We will press for this to happen sooner rather than later as the government proposes. We will also pursue a reduction in tolls for all payers which a fairer system will permit without loss of revenue."
